![]() Keepalived is also used with OpenStack Neutron as part of the distributed router. ![]() Interestingly, Willy Tarreau, the creator of HAProxy is noted as a contributor and HAProxy was also created in 2000, both are also written in C. Keepalived was created by Alexandre Cassenin in the year 2000 and is widely used in the Linux server/systems sphere where most network folk don’t dare/often travel very often in conjunction with HAProxy, Nginx and the like. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how simple and easily deployed it is and thought I’d share the details now I understand why it’s the default choice for many. I’ve recently been working on an implementation of Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP) on Linux using Keepalived to provide IP redundancy for some HA Proxy load balancers.
